2017 Extra Mile Award Recipient. WV Center for Children's Justice’s recognition of the contribution of professionals who demonstrate outstanding professional qualities in working collaboratively to protect children from the devastating impact of child abuse and neglect and improve the community’s response. The Extra Mile Award is intended to recognize professionals who have made a significant positive contribution in the field of child abuse and neglect and have gone the “extra mile” on behalf of abused and neglected children and uphold professional excellence in their field of work contributing to the safety and wellbeing of children who have been victims of abuse or neglect. Presented 28 Sep 2017. The anonymous nomination reportedly originating in Charleston, included, “Dr. Banvard's enthusiasm for elevating the comprehensive care for child abuse victims in West Virginia is contagious. She is generous with her time and energy both serving child victims from Monongalia and Marion Counties, and educating other medical professionals around the state. She is an alliance builder both with the families that she serves and with the professionals she works alongside. Her commitment, collaboration and vision driven approach fuels her work that goes the extra miles.”
