Dr. Robert Johnstone serves as Professor and Chair for the Department of Anesthesiology.  He completed his anesthesia residency and fellowship  at the University of Pennsylvania in 1974.  Dr. Johnstone came to West Virginia University in 1991 as a Professor of Anesthesiology from private practice.  From 1994-2004 he was the Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology and Interim Chair during the summer of 2013.  He has been certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology since 1974.  Dr. Johnstone is the Secretary/Treasurer of the West Virginia State Society of Anesthesiologists and is the Director from West Virginia appointed to the American Society of Anesthesiology.
