About Hugh Palmer
Dr. Palmer took on an academic position at West Virginia University Hospitals after completing his training in 1995. He has spent the majority of his academic career on an academic hospitalist service since 1998. Dr. Palmer was one of the original hospitalists at this institution and has original publications in this area. He has been a mentor to numerous residents and students over the years. Dr. Palmer also devotes significant time and commitment to quality improvement at the institution with a particular focus on pharmacy related projects. Dr. Palmer has also been a Hospice Director the past 10 years. He holds board certifications in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Supportive Care.
Dr. Palmer has been in academic medicine for 23 years with a focus on Inpatient Medicine. He is a respected teacher and solid clinician. He holds several leadership positions in West Virginia University Healthcare as it continues to expand and be a leader in high quality medical care.
