BIOGRAPHY
About Carrie Smith-Bell
Narrative:
Carrie joined WVU in 1999 working in research in the Departments of Physiology & Pharmacology and Neuroscience. After nearly two decades of basic science research where she acquired valuable hands-on, critical thinking, data analysis, and writing skills, Carrie embarked on a new and rewarding career in occupational therapy. Carrie joined the WVU Occupational Therapy Department in 2021 with an interest in treating clients across the lifespan as well as educating future occupational therapists. She is involved in various interprofessional education activities that benefit students in occupational therapy as well as other disciplines. Carrie has worked with inclusive community programming for children and is excited to oversee a part-day summer camp for children of all abilities that she has designed. She is also pursuing the Assistive Technology Professional Certification to assist clients of all ages in selecting and using assistive technology to promote their health, well-being, and participation in valued occupations.
In her spare time, Carrie enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters for crafting, running, baking, biking, and playing with their dog.
