Mary Stamatakis serves as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Educational Innovation and Associate Professor at the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy. In this capacity, she oversees development, implementation, and evaluation of all educational aspects of the Doctor of Pharmacy degree program.  She facilitates curricular development and innovation, serves as the School of Pharmacy liaison for interprofessional education initiatives at the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center, and manages the continued accreditation of the Doctor of Pharmacy program.  She is also responsible for faculty development, student and faculty awards and recognition, and School of Pharmacy committee activities. Serving as a member of the School’s Executive Committee, she works closely with the administrative team to develop programs and projects to meet the school’s strategic goals and to develop and implement School of Pharmacy guidelines and procedures.

She has served on numerous school and university committees during her nearly 20 years at WVU, including serving as chair of the school’s curriculum committee from 1999 to 2006 and as a member of the school’s assessment committee since its inception in 1999. She has also provided service to the university community as a member of the University’s Faculty Senate for six years and as an elected representative to the Faculty Senate’s executive committee. She has served on the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy’s (AACP) Pharmacy Practice Educational Outcomes Task Force and has recently served on the AACP Council of Faculties Faculty Affairs Committee for two years. She also serves as a team member for Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education site visits.  She completed the AACP Academic Leadership Fellows Program in 2007.

In 2012, she received the Jerry Siegel Clinical Achievement Award from The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Pharmacy.  This award recognizes an alumnus of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Pharmacy Residency Program.

Teaching interests include nephrology pharmacotherapy, preparation for careers in hospital pharmacy, and mentorship of students and residents for careers in teaching and administration
