Practice Interests
Dr. Wietholter’s practice interests are focused mostly in the area of Internal Medicine where he has an interest in COPD and Multiple Sclerosis management as well as studying healthcare in underserved populations, specifically South Africa. He is also responsible for rounding with Internal Medicine physicians and residents, precepting students from West Virginia University during clinical rotations in both Internal Medicine and International Medicine, and precepting both PGY-1 and PGY-2 pharmacy residents.
About Jon Wietholter
Dr. Jon Wietholter is a 2007 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. After graduation, Dr. Wietholter completed a PGY-1 residency at Pitt County Memorial Hospital (now Vidant Health) which is affiliated with East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. He is currently a Clinical Associate Professor at the West Virginia University (WVU) School of Pharmacy, an Adjunct Associate Professor at the WVU School of Medicine, and an Internal Medicine Clinical Pharmacist at WVU-Medicine Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Dr. Wietholter is involved in many aspects of the WVU School of Pharmacy curriculum with >90 contact hours annually and is the co-coordinator of three School of Pharmacy courses: Health Systems Pharmacy Practice, the Neurology/Psychiatry module in the Systems Based Therapy sequence, and Travel Medicine and Global Pharmacy Practice. Additionally, Dr. Wietholter developed and coordinates an International Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) in South Africa completed by 4th year WVU pharmacy students.
