Publications
Dr. Ritchie published a peer-reviewed article in Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases entitled, ‘A randomized controlled trial using intraoperative dexmedetomidine during roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery to reduce postoperative pain and narcotic use. He has a provisional approved patent for a medical device use for rapid pulse confirmation during CPR.

About Michael Ritchie
Dr. Michael Kyle Ritchie is a Pediatric Anesthesiologist within the School of Medicine of West Virginia University. Dr. Ritchie received his Doctorate Degree in 2010 from West Virginia University. He completed his anesthesiology residency at West Virginia University and completed a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He joined the faculty of the WVU Department of Anesthesiology as an Assistant Professor in 2016. He obtained his certification with the American Board of Anesthesiology. His current rank is Assistant Professor. Dr. Ritchie is a full-time Pediatric Anesthesiologist and provides anesthetic care for inpatients and outpatients .
