Dr. Qari’s research and study in pathology makes her the WVU Dental School expert on reviewing biopsies and providing results for dentists and their patients. Qari can work with dentists statewide to assess samples and determine a biopsy diagnosis in a timely manner without the wait that often comes with biopsies sent out of state for review.

About Hiba Qari
Dr. Qari was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Middle Eastern parents. While she feels right at home at the WVU School of Dentistry in Morgantown, she’s truly been a globetrotter. She’s fluent in both Arabic and English having lived in Saudi Arabia, England and the United States. The Pittsburgh Steelers fan was a general practitioner in Saudi Arabia for 5 years before returning stateside to continue her education. Dr. Qari’s research at Tufts University focused on flow cytometry, the use of laser technology to study cells, and construction of 3-dimensional human skin equivalent models induced from pluripotent stem cells. Publications by Dr. Qari cover research topics including odontogenic tumors, osteomyelitis, lichen planus and soft tissue tumors.

The biopsy service works with or receives surgical specimens from clinicians in more than five countries, 21 states and nearly every county in West Virginia.
