About Rachel Baur
My research interest is to better understand the mechanisms of allergic diseases and my current research is related to dermal chemical exposures and how these exposures may contribute to immune modulation and allergic disease. I am currently working as a graduate student in Dr. Stacey Anderson’s lab at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. I am specifically studying how the microbiome and skin barrier may be altered in response to antimicrobial chemical exposures on the skin and how these alterations may influence sensitization. The results of this research may contribute to improved risk assessment of chemical exposures and an increased understanding of factors that contribute to sensitization and the development of allergic diseases. Outside of the lab, I enjoy spending time with my husband, hiking, cooking, and traveling.
