About Jonathan Grammer
Hometown: Northport, Alabama
Undergraduate institution: University of Alabama
Medical school: University of South Alabama
Why did you choose WVU? After spending the last eight years trying my hardest to move to the mountains, I was finally given the opportunity to do so. Morgantown’s proximity to awesome trail running, skiing, snowboarding, and its sports scene instantly moved it towards the top of my list. The faculty are great, my co-residents are great, everything here is great.
Brief bio: I grew up in a small town right outside Tuscaloosa, Alabama (Roll Tide). After getting a biology degree from the University of Alabama, I took a few odd jobs working in small mountain towns in Utah and Colorado. Unfortunately, my time in the mountains was cut way too short as I was sucked back in to Alabama for four more years of medical school. My short time so far in West Virginia feels more like home than Alabama ever did for me, and has solidified my decision that I made the right choice in my residency program.
