Dr. John S. Bozek joined the Department of Anesthesiology at WVU Health Care in July of 2019.  He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine in 2013, where he served as the Eastern Division Class President and was also involved with the Gold Humanism Honor Society and Academic Council.  Dr. Bozek completed his anesthesiology residency at WVU School of Medicine in 2017 and served as Chief Resident in his final year.  He went on to The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City to complete an Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship in 2018.  Prior to returning to WVU as an Assistant Professor, Dr. Bozek worked for one year in a busy private practice including general and cardiac anesthesia at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

Dr. Bozek is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and the National Board of Echocardiography for Advanced Perioperative Echocardiography. Dr. Bozek maintains professional society membership with the American Association of Anesthesiologists, the Society for Cardiovascular Anesthesiology, and the National Board of Echocardiography. He serves as the director for Basic and Advanced Perioperative Echocardiography rotations for anesthesiology residents.  He also serves on the Interview Committee for the Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship. His main area of practice is cardiac anesthesiology in the Heart and Vascular Institute of WVU.
