About Gregory Stimac

Brief bio:

I was born in Chicago, IL but raised in Spokane, WA.  I had the lucky privilege of being able to explore the wilderness of the Pacific Northwest, Montana, and western Canada while growing up.  I pursued a master’s degree in biomedical sciences at the University of Edinburgh in 2012 where I studied experimental anatomy and infectious disease before attending medical school.  I spend my free time in Phoenix, AZ where most of my family now lives.

What attracted you to WVU Residency?

  • Residents finish prepared for surgical careers without fellowship
  • Location in Morgantown

What makes our program unique?

  • Fresh tissue perfusion program
  • Unique pathology of patients in West Virginia
  • High case volume compared nationally
  • Faculty mentorship

What do you like about living in Morgantown?

  • The scenery reminds me of home in Washington State
  • Less traffic than Washington, DC where I attended medical school and also compared to where I grew up
  • I can go to the lake after work if I want to!
  • Extremely inexpensive cost of living
