About Bridget Bailey
Bridget Bailey, PhD, MSW, LICSW is an Assistant Professor and Clinical Therapist in the Department of Behavioral Medicine & Psychiatry at West Virginia University, School of Medicine. She graduated with a Bachelors of Philosophy in Social Work from University of Pittsburgh in 2009, a Masters in Social Work from Ohio State University in 2010, and a Ph.D. from Ohio State University College of Social Work in 2020. She currently holds licensure as an Independent Clinical Social Worker under the West Virginia Board of Social Work Licensure. Dr. Bailey has eight years of clinical experience in the field of mental health and specializes in the use of evidence-based psychotherapy for youth and adults with mood disorders and trauma. Dr. Bailey’s primary research focus is clinical translational research in the area of bipolar disorders (BP). Dr. Bailey’s research examines the efficacy and effectiveness of psychosocial interventions for youth and adults with BP with common and complex comorbidities including trauma and substance use. This research informs personalization of treatment by examining which treatments work best for whom. Dr. Bailey’s current research efforts also include effectiveness and implementation of evidence based treatment for youth with complex trauma and their caregivers. Dr. Bailey’s long-term goal is to implement evidence-based interventions into routine clinical practice in community-based settings where they will impact diverse and vulnerable populations.
