Dr. Cherelle Carrington is an Assistant Professor at West Virginia University in the Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry at the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute. Cherelle completed her Ph.D. in Social Work at Florida International University. Dr. Carrington is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for the states of West Virginia and Florida and has experience working with couples, children, and families. Cherelle was also a McKnight Doctoral Fellow and was awarded a five-year scholarship from the Florida Education Fund to pursue her doctoral studies.

Research

To date, her research has focused on couples which has led to several book reviews and poster presentations at the Society for Social Work and Research, American Family Therapy Academy, and the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies Conventions. Her dissertation focuses on evaluating treatment for female survivors of intimate partner violence using a multiple-baseline single-system design. She would like to continue this line of research with a focus on minority women, recognizing the historical, economic, social, and cultural context in which minority women live.
