Brief bio:

I was born and raised in southern West Virginia. I worked as a physician assistant in the emergency department for a few years prior to attending the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. 

What attracted you to WVU surgery for residency? 

In my last two years of medical school, I was fortunate enough to work with a wonderful physician who came through this program and is beloved by patients and hospital staff alike. He was extremely grounded, knowledgeable, and skilled coming straight out of his residency at WVU. Then I was able to do a trauma rotation as a 4th-year student and the residents took me in as a part of the family and I saw firsthand the ability of residents at this program.  

What makes our program unique? 

I feel like the attendings at our program truly remember what it was like to be a resident. They have no problem in pushing you out of your comfort zone and giving you an appropriate amount of stress to grow from.  

What do you like about living in Morgantown?

I would have to say I enjoy the food and craft beer options that Morgantown provides. There are still places I have not explored because of the few places I have tried I can’t get away from. My favorite spots are Table 9 on Tuesdays for their craft beer and specialty hamburgers, Pies and Pints, and Mountain State Brewing.
