About Laura Voges
Hometown: Lookout Mountain, Georgia
Undergraduate institution: University of Georgia
Medical school: Mercer University School of Medicine
Why did you choose WVU? I chose WVU for so many reasons. I had an amazing interview day with great interactions with all of the faculty and residents. With everything on Zoom, it was difficult to judge programs, but Erica’s passion for the program, education, and resident support came across even on the digital platform. I am interested in both rural medicine and wilderness medicine, and WVU has great opportunities for both. The program also had really great communication which was very important to me.
Brief bio: I grew up in north Georgia very close to Chattanooga, TN. It was the perfect place to foster my love of hiking and backpacking. I have lived in Georgia my whole life, so I am really excited to try out snow sports here in West Virginia. In my free time, you can find me hanging out with my boyfriend, Luke, and dog, Micha. I enjoy running, cooking, reading, watching comedy shows, and especially traveling to be able to experience new cultures and try new foods.
