About Ali Hajiran
Dr. Ali Hajiran joins West Virginia University Medicine as a surgeon in the Division of Urologic Oncology. A native of Wheeling, West Virginia, he completed his undergraduate degree at Wheeling Jesuit University before earning his Doctorate of Medicine from West Virginia University School of Medicine. He completed General Surgery Internship and Urologic Surgery Residency training at West Virginia University. Dr. Hajiran then completed a Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO)-accredited Fellowship at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute in Tampa, Florida. Moffitt Cancer Center is one of the nation’s only free-standing National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers and is routinely recognized as a Top 10 Cancer Hospital by U.S. News & World Report. Dr. Hajiran has authored over 30 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters and his primary research interests include optimizing personalized patient care through the combination of surgery with immunotherapy by investigating novel biomarkers and the tumor immune microenvironment. Dr. Hajiran specializes in treating kidney, bladder, prostate, ureteral, and testicular cancer and offers minimally invasive robotic-assisted laparoscopic, pure laparoscopic, endoscopic, and open surgical approaches based on each individual patient’s case.
As a native West Virginian, Dr. Hajiran is passionate and excited about the opportunity to deliver cutting-edge surgery and the highest quality of care to West Virginians with urologic cancers. Dr. Hajiran is an avid Mountaineer fan and regularly attends men’s basketball games at the WVU Coliseum. He enjoys running, biking, lap swimming, and walking his two dogs with his wife on the trails in Morgantown.
