Midhun Malla, MD MS joined WVU Cancer Institute from the University of Oklahoma where he completed a fellowship in hematology-oncology. Dr. Malla completed his medical degree at Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences Guntur Medical College in Andhra Pradesh, India. Dr. Malla is specializing in gastrointestinal medical oncology and manages patients with esophageal, gastric, pancreatic, hepatic, and biliary cancers, small intestine, colorectal, anal cancers, gastrointestinal stromal tumors, and neuroendocrine tumors. He aims to provide patients with the most up-to-date evidence-based medicine tailored to each individual patient treated at WVU cancer institute. He works in close collaboration with a team of dedicated experts with a broad array of specialties to maximize the quality and quantity of life for cancer patients in the state of West Virginia.
Dr. Malla is actively engaged in clinical and translational research. He is one of the leaders of WVU medicine's gastro-intestinal clinical trial program and he currently serves as the principal investigator for multiple cooperative group trials. Additionally, he is working on a translational research in colorectal cancers patients studying gene expression and their correlation with future development of metastases. He has been successful in obtaining a couple of institutional grants as part of National Institute of Health (NIH) funding to pursue his ongoing research at WVU.
